Safety Data Sheet

Product Offerings

Deionized (DI) Water comes in a variety of classifications. We will provide types one, two, three, and four. As Deionized (DI) Water is free from impurities, it is the ideal option for blending a variety of formulations, such as sanitizers, disinfectants, and cleaning agents. Contact Paradise water to incorporate your product into our Deionized (DI) Water.

Uses

  • General chemistry, molecular biology, and chromatography.
  • Other uses include anything from cooling systems to hydroponics.
  • Use Deionized (DI) Water for spot-free cleaning of windows and glassware in homes and laboratories.

Di Water Types and Their Specifications

Cass Number: 7732-18-5

There are several types of water types starting with ultra pure and moving to less pure waters depending on several testing factors.

Resistivity: This test is often used in higher purity waters generally types I and II. The greater resistance the less ionic (mineral) content is present in the water.

Conductivity: This test will tell us how much Ionic content exist in a water sample, often used in Types III and IV. As electricity travels in the ionic content of the water. The lower the conductivity of the water the lower the ionic content.

Total organic carbon (TOC) The total organic carbon test will tell us just how much organic material is found in a sample. Materials may include microorganisms or other organic compounds. The lower this number the less organic compounds are present.

Type I , this is the purest water used extensively as an ingredient for blending formulations such as cleaning agents,  laboratory settings for  gas chromatography, and mass spectrometry among others.

  •  Resistivity: Greater than 18 MΩ-cm
  • Conductivity: Less than 0.056 µS/cm
  • Total organic carbons: Less than 50 ppb

Type II, This type is not considered Ultrapure but used for applications such as instrument analyzers and electrochemistry.

  • Resistivity: Greater than 1 MΩ-cm
  • Conductivity: Less than 1 µS/cm
  • Total organic carbons: Less than 50 ppb

Type III, As with other types this begins with standard tap water, it is then put through a reverse osmosis system to remove many impurities. Many of these are the organic types as the ionic minerals are not removed and the water is not “polished”. You will also notice that the total organic carbon number is higher. Uses include rinsing and cleaning lab and other equipment.

  • Resistivity: Greater than 4 MΩ-cm
  • Conductivity: Less than 0.25 µS/cm
  • Total organic carbons: Less than 200 ppb

Type IV, Little is done to create Type IV as it is mostly used in a step to create more pure waters.

How It Is Made

Deionized water is produced by filtering water using multiple methods to bring the water to an “ultra- pure” state. This is accomplished in a multi-step process using filters, reverse osmosis, and both positive and negative ion media.
